For a sustainable future for our mountains, choose resorts with the Flocon Vert Label.

Le Flocon vert allows you to combine mountain pleasure and responsibility by informing you of the positive actions carried out by mountain resorts committed to social, environmental and economic transition. This label was co-constructed for mountain players and certified by associations, universities and ADEME. It is recognized by theANMSM.

Flocon Vert: The Label for mountain resorts of the future

This label was developed by the association Mountain Riders in order to allow lovers and mountain enthusiasts to choose their tourist destinations according to their sustainable commitment.

Which mountain resorts have the FLOCON VERT label?

At the end of 2017, only 5 mountain resorts received the Flocon Vert Label:

Les Rousses mountain resort:


Labeled in 2013, the resort of Les Rousses, located in the Haut-Jura natural park, brings together 4 municipalities sharing the same values.

The Chamonix Valley:

The Chamonix valley has been awarded the Flocon Vert label
The Chamonix valley is no longer presented, at the foot of the Mont-Blanc Massif, this group of 4 municipalities obtained the label in 2013.

Châtel mountain resort:

Châtel mountain resort awarded the Flocon Vert label
Labeled in 2015, Châtel belonging to the Portes du Soleil is a mountain resort on a human scale located at an altitude of 1800 m in Haute-Savoie.

The mountain resort La Pierre Saint Martin:

La Pierre Saint-Martin mountain resort awarded the Flocon Vert label
Labeled in 2017, La Pierre Saint-Martin mountain resort is the first resort in the Pyrenees to receive the Flocon Vert Label.

The Chamrousse mountain resort:

The Chamrousse mountain resort has been awarded the Flocon Vert label
Labeled in 2014, this Isère resort at the foot of Grenoble has been following a sustainable development policy for several years.

What are the criteria for obtaining the Green Flocon Label?

To obtain the Flocon Vert Label, each mountain resort must meet 20 criteria divided into 4 themes:

The resort supports and strengthens local economic initiatives that respect people and nature.

The resort promotes local heritage and sustainable development for its visitors and residents alike.

  • Governance and Destination

The mountain resort leads an active and shared policy to guide and monitor its development towards sustainable development all year round

  • Environment and natural resources

Soft mobility, recycling, water management, energy management and respect for biodiversity are positive actions carried out by mountain resorts.

A labeling committee ( The Nicolas Hulot Foundation for Nature and ManEEEF, Sustainable Tourism Actors, IMUSand of course Mountain Riders ) is the only one able to issue this Label.
The Flocon Vert Label is supported by the Water Agency, ADEME, the Nicolas Hulot Foundation for Nature and Man
